The legislative council of the University of California, Irvine’s Associated Students adopted a resolution Thursday banning all flags, including the American flag, from the lobby areas of student government offices. “The American flag has been flown in instances of colonialism and imperialism,” the resolution states, adding that flags “construct paradigms of conformity and sets homogenized standards.” The university itself made sure to note that the student resolution “is not endorsed or supported in any way by the campus leadership.”
