The United States is imposing new sanctions against eight Venezuelan individuals for undermining democracy in the country, the AP reported Wednesday. Seven of those targeted are current or former members of the Venezuelan government, including the brother of the late President Hugo Chávez. They are accused of supporting the creation of an assembly tasked with rewriting the country's constitution, after a vote the U.S. has called illegitimate.
