The University of Southern California settled a class-action lawsuit on behalf of the school’s student health gynecologist George Tyndall, who was fired for inappropriate sexual behavior in 2017. Tyndall denies any wrongdoing and has not been charged with any crime, but the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office says it “has received a total of 99 crime reports from the [Los Angeles Police Department]” regarding Tyndall. When reached by CNN, Leonard Levine, the lawyer representing Tyndall, said he was unable to provide a comment. Many of the women were allegedly photographed or videotaped while nude when they underwent the exams, according to CNN. Individual compensation ranged from $2,500 to $250,000, depending on each victim’s experience with the doctor. “I am encouraged by today’s settlement filing, which takes another important step in healing our community,” Wanda M. Austin, who is acting as the university’s interim president, said in a statement. The proposed settlement still requires court approval.
