More details have emerged in the grisly murder of UVA lacrosse player Yeardley Love, 22, as police charged her boyfriend, George Huguely, also 22, with first-degree murder. Huguely, a midfielder for the men’s lacrosse team, told police he kicked in Love’s bedroom door and then shook her violently and repeatedly hit her head against the wall. Court documents said two people had found Love lying face down with a pool of blood on her pillow, a large bruise on her face and one eye swollen shut. Rescue crews attempted to revive her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the two had been in a relationship that had recently ended, but did not release any more details. Huguely was also revealed to have a police record: in 2008, he was shocked by a stun gun by police after resisting arrest in Lexington, VA. Meanwhile, on campus, the lacrosse teams vowed to pursue their goal of reaching the playoffs by playing in memory of Love and the baseball team observed a moment of silence for her.
