Natalie Portman was radiant in Rodarte at the opening of the Venice Film Festival this week. Ben Affleck, Naomi Campbell, and more celebrities ascended on the Italian city in style for some highly-anticipated world premieres.

The world premiere of Darren Aronofsky's new film Black Swan, starring Natalie Portman, kicked off the 67th Venice Film Festival on Saturday. The actress, who wore a gorgeous Swarovski-embellished Rodarte gown for the premiere, has already generated Oscar buzz for her lead role as disturbed ballerina Nina, starring alongside Mila Kunis and Winona Ryder.

Somewhere star Stephen Dorff attended the film's premiere at the festival on Friday. The film stars Dorff as a young actor living on Sunset Boulevard who escapes Hollywood's vices. Dorff credited the film's acclaimed director Sofia Coppola with making Somewhere, "one of the most incredible experiences I've had," he told the Wall Street Journal. "It made me really sad when it ended," he added.

Actress Michelle Williams arrived for the screening of her Oregon Trail western film Meek's Cutoff on Sunday in a grey silk gown by Jason Wu and a much-talked about pixie haircut. Critics were also talking about her impressive performance. Variety said Williams "anchors the ensemble with a performance of fierce grit and unflinching moral strength."

Director Michele Placido and the cast of his crime thriller Vallanzasca—Gli Angeli Del Male ( Vallanzasca—The Angels of Evil) gathered on Monday in celebration of the movie's premiere. Based on the book Il Fiore del Male, the film stars Rossi Stuart as infamous Milanese criminal Renato Vallanzasca and beautiful Spanish actress Paz Vega.

Jessica Alba attended the premiere of her new film Machete in Valentino, joining director Robert Rodriguez and costars Danny Trejo and Robert De Niro. The film opened shortly thereafter in the U.S. and made $14 million during the four-day weekend, landing in second place at the box office behind George Clooney's The American.

Chilean director Pablo Larraín and actress Antonia Zegers arrived for the screening of their film Post Mortem on Sunday. In the film, Zegers, who is pregnant with Larrain's child, plays a neurotic cabaret showgirl during the time of the anti-Allende military coup.

Twelve-year-old actress Elle Fanning (younger sister to Dakota) arrived for the screening of her new film Somewhere in an adorable blue Marc Jacobs dress and metallic Marc Jacobs heels. Fanning plays Cleo, Stephen Dorff's daughter in the film, and is already impressing critics. The Hollywood Reporter wrote, "Young Fanning, who already is a veteran actress, gives Cleo poise and lots of skills."

Actresses Rinko Kikuchi and Kiko Mizuhara attended the screening of Norwegian Wood, adapted by Vietnamese-French director Tran Anh Hung from the Japanese novel by Haruki Murakami. Kikuchi donned a lace Chanel Couture bronze dress with heavy embroidery while Mizuhara looked heavenly in a white Valentino Couture dress with a short hem and a long train.

Director Casey Affleck arrived for the screening of his highly anticipated movie starring Joaquin Phoenix, I'm Still Here on Monday. Although audiences still question the authenticity of the documentary, Affleck told reporters at a press conference via Time, "I can tell you, there's no hoax."

British model Naomi Campbell arrived in Venice on Thursday with Vladimir Doronin for the screening of Julian Schnabel's new movie Miral. The film is set in Palestine between 1948 and the mid-1990s told from a woman's point of view via Slumdog Millionaire's Freida Pinto. Campbell wore a floor-length emerald Azzedine Alaia dress with an enormous emerald and diamond ring that captured everyone's attention.

Venice Jury President Quentin Tarantino arrived for the opening ceremony at the festival in Venice on Wednesday, prepared to judge two dozen movies. Tarantino told Bloomberg, "It's one of the wildest, coolest, most eclectic lineups: It's kind of all over the map, and that's very exciting."

French actress Catherine Deneuve attended the Saturday premiere of her film Potiche, a comical farce by Francois Ozon based on a1980 play by Pierre Barillet and Jean-Pierre Gredy. Variety hailed Deneuve's performance as "pitch-perfect," as was her style in this long, draped deep brown Lanvin gown.
