T.J. Lane, who is suspected to have opened fire at Chardon High School in Ohio—killing one (there were reports of a second death) and injuring three or four others—may have had his chilling attack videotaped by surveillance cameras, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. According to someone who has viewed the video, Lane sat down by himself at a table, then pulled out a .22-caliber handgun from his backpack. He walked behind classmates who were waiting for a bus and then opened fire. He hit one student in the back, another in the back of the head, and another “several times.” A football coach chased Lane as he ran for the door, while students fled for cover. Lane then headed for the school’s exit, and on the way fired at a female student who was pulled into a classroom by a teacher.
