Body-camera video from University of Cincinnati police officer Ray Tensing shows him instantly shooting an unarmed black man without provocation in a July 19 incident. A Cincinnati grand jury has indicted Tensing for murder. In the video, Tensing briefly interrogates Sam DuBose about whether he has a license, and then shoots him as DuBose goes to open the door.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters called the shooting “senseless” and “the most asinine thing I’ve ever seen a cop do.”
“We’re going to treat him as a murderer,” Deters said before Tensing surrendered at court.
The University of Cincinnati evacuated its campus in expectation of civil unrest.
