Senator David Vitter (R-La.) announced today that he will run for governor in 2015, saying he can “have a bigger impact addressing the unique challenges” facing the state by returning home. Vitter has served as senator since 2005 and won re-election in 2010, despite the fact that he was named among the clients of D.C. Madame Deborah Jeane Palfrey’s prostitution ring. Current governor Bobby Jindal faces a term limit, so Vitter is a favorite, but he could face competitition form two other Louisiana Republicans, Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne and Treasurer John Kennedy (R).
