2015 may go down as the year that sharks finally put humans on the menu. OK, that’s completely inaccurate—the fact is the toothy beasts pose little threat to our kind, even when we’re swimming among them. But the proliferation of videos like this one, in which a diver fends off the attention of a hammerhead shark while retreating from the deep, can make it hard to take a dip in the ocean without the Jaws theme slowly welling up from your subconscious.

Granted, like most sharks, the hammerhead is facing far more danger from humans, who kill millions and millions of them annually for their fins, than we are from them. But that’s little consolation when you’re surrounded on all sides by the ocean, way out of your natural element.
