The 4.8-magnitude earthquake that rattled New Jersey and New York City on Friday morning was viewed live on TV thanks to the MLB Network. As the morning recap show MLB Central concluded a jokey segment, titled “Ham & Eggers,” featuring goofy trumpet music, the camera began to visibly shake while live on-the-air. “Are we having an earthquake?” asked host Robert Flores. “Seriously, are we having an earthquake?” he asked again, his tone becoming more concerned. “I think we’re having an earthquake!” he continued, as co-host Lauren Shehadi asked the on-set crew if they were okay. “Control room is shaking, we’re shaking,” Flores remarked while Shehadi made the sign of the cross and their co-host Mark DeRosa suggested cutting to break. “This is not a bit,” Flores assured viewers before pivoting to commercials. The MLB Network’s studios are located in Secaucus, New Jersey, roughly 40 miles east of the quake’s epicenter.
