President Donald Trump fired James Comey, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, on Tuesday. The White House said in a statement Trump fired Comey based on recommendations from Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer made the announcement. “The FBI is one of our Nation’s most cherished and respected institutions and today will mark a new beginning for our crown jewel of law enforcement,” Trump said in the statement.
