Cleveland Indians ace Corey Kluber dominated Game 1 to give his team an early 1-0 lead in the 2016 World Series. The 30-year-old Cy Young Award winner threw six shutout innings, and set a World Series record by striking out eight through the first three innings, effectively shutting down the Chicago Cubs in the series opener. A pair of small-ball runs in the first and two home runs by catcher Roberto Perez gave the Indians a 6-0 lead they easily rode to victory. Cubs sensation Kyle Schwarber made his 2016 return from an injury to hit a near-homer off the right-center field wall for a dramatic World Series debut hit. The Fall Classic will continue Wednesday, with Chicago’s 2015 National League Cy Young winner Jake Arrieta taking on Cleveland’s Trevor Bauer, who left Game 3 of the American League Championship Series with a pinky-finger injury. Game 2 will begin at 7:08 p.m. ET, an hour earlier than normal due to forecasted heavy rain.
