Will Smith is set to appear at a major awards show for the first time since he slapped Chris Rock on the Oscars stage in 2022, according to TMZ. The site reports that Smith will present at the Grammy Awards on Sunday. He was served a 10-year-ban from the Oscars ceremony after he slapped Rock during the live broadcast three years ago, and hasn’t made an appearance on a similar stage since. He did, however, take his redemption arc to the BET Awards stage last year, with a musical performance about overcoming adversity. Whether or not Smith will joke about the incident remains to be seen, but if that slapping scene in Bad Boys: Ride or Die is any indication, Smith may just be getting comfortable enough to do so. This isn’t the first time the Recording Academy welcomed Smith with welcome arms since the “The Slap Heard ’Round the World,” as he was invited to perform at the Grammy Museum in October. He was also slated to perform during the Grammys hip-hop tribute the year prior, but backed out due to Bad Boys filming.
