Patrons at the pub, the Feather’s Inn in Hedley on the Hill, were astounded when William and Harry dropped into their usually quiet local to celebrate the groom’s forthcoming marriage. The royal brothers bought drinks at the bar and also had a meal, with the pub’s chef tweeting proudly that he had just finished making ‘tea’ for William and harry and they they were ‘lovely boys’.

Thomas van Straubenzee is one of Harry’s oldest friends, and in 2011 Harry heard him being mugged as they spoke on the telephone. He alerted police and then raced across London in person to lend support, finding him at a police station.

Melissa is the youngest daughter of the Duke of Northumberland. Her brother, George Percy, was erroneously linked to Pippa Middleton. The family's estate, Alnwick Castle in Northumberland, doubles as Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films.

Van Straubenzee, 30, is also good friends with the Duke of Cambridge and served as an usher at the royal wedding at Westminster Abbey. The pair went to New Zealand together during their gap years before university.

Prince Harry's old flame Chelsy Davy, who is Missy's best friend, is expected to be chief bridesmaid, and William's pal Guy Pelly may be best man at the wedding later this year.
