A World Cup security guard died three days after suffering a fall from an outside stadium concourse on Saturday—the night U.S. soccer journalist Grant Wahl suddenly died. John Njau Kibue, a 24-year-old Kenyan national, fell around 2 a.m., hours after the Argentina-Netherlands match. He received emergency treatment and was hospitalized in an intensive care unit, where he later died. “His next of kin have been informed,” said the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, the tournament’s organizing body, which earlier said that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident would be carried out “as a matter of urgency.” Kibue’s uncle, Samuel Njau, told Reuters on Wednesday, “For us as a family—definitely, we want some answers. And if possible, we want for them to facilitate the return of the body.”
