World Cup: South Korea Defeats Defending-Champion Germany

South Korea defeated defending World Cup champion Germany 2-0, allowing Sweden and Mexico to advance to the next round of the tournament. This is the first time Germany, the winner of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, has not advanced to the second round of the tournament since 1938. For most of the game, the score was tied at zero, with Germany taking twice as many shots as South Korea. The Korean team scored two goals in stoppage time, however, knocking the Germans out of the tournament.
