YouTube announced Monday that it has removed The Alex Jones Channel, which was run by the conspiracy theorist, from its platform. The company told CNBC in a statement that Jones received a “strike” in July after posting four videos that violated its policies prohibiting child endangerment and hate speech. “Users agree to comply with our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines when they sign up to use YouTube. When users violate these policies repeatedly, like our policies against hate speech and harassment or our terms prohibiting circumvention of our enforcement measures, we terminate their accounts,” the company said. Jones’ channel, which boasted 2.4 million subscribers, appeared in search results Monday afternoon, but users attempting to view the channel were shown a notice that said, “This account has been terminated for violating YouTube's Community Guidelines.” Facebook and Apple also recently removed some of Jones’ content from their platforms.
