Two American service members were killed Friday in Afghanistan while conducting an unspecified operation. A statement from NATO Resolute Support in Kabul didn’t offer any further details, explaining: “The names of the service members killed in action are being withheld until 24 hours after notification of next of kin is complete.” It brings the total U.S. combat deaths in Afghanistan this year to four. Qayum Nuristani, a spokesman for the Afghan special forces, said the operation took place in the northern Kunduz province. An Afghan commando was also killed, he said, adding that many Taliban fighters had also been killed.
