British police have confirmed that they arrested Julian Assange on behalf of U.S. authorities on an extradition warrant. Assange was forcibly removed from the Ecuadorian embassy in London Thursday morning and was initially arrested on charges of skipping bail in 2012. However, British police later arrested him on behalf of the U.S. on an extradition warrant. The Metropolitan Police confirmed the second arrest happened after Assange was taken from the embassy to a police station in London. Assange's lawyer claimed in a tweet: “The U.S. warrant was issued in December 2017 and is for conspiracy with Chelsea Manning ... in early 2010.” The U.K. government revealed a little bit more information, saying in a statement: “He is accused in the United States of America computer related offences.”
