Marine Staff Sergeant Bill Bee is the author of The Shot: The Harrowing Journey of a Marine in the War on Terror. He deployed to Afghanistan four times during his 13-year career. The photo of a Taliban sniper round missing his head by inches in 2008 was capture by a Reuters photographer. His combat career was brought to an end by an IED blast in 2010. Now he lives in Jacksonville, North Carolina, with his wife Bobbie and son Ethan.
