Beyoncé reportedly walked out of a potential deal with Reebok for an athletic clothing line when she found out the team that would be working on her products lacked diversity. On ESPN, writer Nick DePaula said the singer had discussed partnering with Under Armour, Reebok, and Nike for the apparel collaboration. “She had a meeting at Reebok and they had a whole presentation of everything, potential products, how this could all look, and she kind of took a step back and said, ‘Is this the team that will be working on my product?’” DePaula said. “Somebody said, ‘Yes,’ and she said, ‘Nobody in this room reflects by background, my skin color and where I’m from and what I want to do.’ So she took a step back and left and then it did not come to terms.” DePaula also recalled that the singer wanted to make an “imprint on the company and an impact in terms of diversity,” rather than just putting her name on a product. This comes after Beyoncé was confirmed to have signed with Adidas as their “newest creative partner.” The singer called it the “partnership of a lifetime” in a press release.
