A California teen visiting an Arizona landmark has died from what authorities believe was an accidental fall. Coconino County sheriff’s officials said Wednesday that the body of the 14-year-old girl was found about 700 feet below the Horseshoe Bend overlook—a tourist destination that gives a wide view of the Colorado River below red cliffs near the Arizona-Utah border. There are no safety barriers at the site. The girl was reported missing Monday afternoon and her body was later spotted by a crew in an Arizona Department of Public Safety helicopter. Sheriff’s deputies say the teen was visiting from the San Jose area. They believe the fall was an accident, but their investigation continues.
