ABC News has reportedly suspended one of its veteran journalists over remarks he made while being secretly recorded. “I don’t think we’re terribly interested in voters,” correspondent David Wright said in the video released Wednesday morning by conservative group Project Veritas. “Commercial imperative is incompatible with news.” Project Veritas said Wright said of President Trump: “We don’t hold him to account. We also don’t give him credit for what things he does do.” In the video, which was recorded at the New Hampshire primary, Wright called Trump “the fucking president.” Wright also criticized ABC News, which is owned by Disney Co., saying, “Like now you can’t watch Good Morning America without there being a Disney princess or a Marvel Avenger appearing,” adding, “It’s all self-promotional.” He also declared himself a socialist.

ABC News said in a statement on Wednesday: “David Wright has been suspended, and to avoid any possible appearance of bias, he will be reassigned away from political coverage when he returns.” The video was initially teased on social media Tuesday by the founder of Project Veritas, James O’Keefe, who said it “will expose ABC News’ agenda to mislead voters and push their own narratives.” The Washington Post reported that ABC officials reviewed the footage before his suspension. Project Veritas was previously behind the release of a video that showed ABC News anchor Amy Robach slamming her own network for allegedly sitting on the Jeffrey Epstein story for three years.
