Following a successful night for the Democratic Party on Tuesday, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee released a new memo Thursday adding 11 additional Republican-held districts they now deem to be battlegrounds for 2018’s midterm elections. Notably, one of the districts is Wisconsin’s 1st, a seat currently held by House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI.). Randy Bryce, a union ironworker, is running against Ryan for the seat. “It’s obviously clear that there’s going to be real opportunity to pick up Republican-leaning seats,” Bryce’s campaign manager David Keith told The Daily Beast in a phone interview. “I think it’s much more telling that there’s really good candidates and candidate recruitment around the country. I think Randy is a glaring example of that.” —Gideon Resnick
