Five-time Olympic champion Nathan Adrian has been diagnosed with testicular cancer—but says he still plans to win more gold at Tokyo 2020. The U.S. swimming star announced his diagnosis on his social-media pages, saying that: “Life, like swimming the 100 free, can come at you hard and fast as you can’t always see who, or what, is chasing you down.” The swimmer, 30, said the cancer has been caught early and he has a good prognosis as he prepares for surgery next week. He said: “I will be back in the water in a few short weeks with my sights fully set on Tokyo!” Adrian says he will be documenting his fight with the illness to help break the stigma surrounding men’s health issues.
