At least 10 people have been killed at the youth team training center of one of Brazil’s biggest soccer clubs. The fire reportedly broke out overnight at Ninho de Urubu—the state-of-the-art training ground of Flamengo football club—in Rio de Janeiro. None of the victims have been identified but the facility that went up in flames is known to have been used by players between the ages of 14 and 17. “The kids from the Flamengo youth team were sleeping there at the time,” firefighter Douglas Henaut told Globo News. Three people were also injured. The training center was reportedly expanded and reopened only two months ago.
