The former part-owner of the Minnesota Vikings has been found dead with his wife in an apparent murder-suicide. Irwin Jacobs, a nationally-known investor who once claimed his wealth exceeded $200m, was discovered in bed with wife Alexandra when cops entered his mansion Wednesday. There was a gun in the bed, according to the Star Tribune. One of Jacobs' close friends, Dennis Mathisen, told the paper that the businessman's son had informed him of the deaths and that Irwin was responsible for both of them. Mathisen said Alexandra Jacobs “had been in a wheelchair for the last year or so and had signs of dementia. Irwin was just distraught over her condition.” Orono Police Chief Correy Farniok didn't confirm it was a murder-suicide, but said he wasn't looking for any suspects. The couple’s children released a joint statement, saying: “We are heartbroken by this loss, and we ask that our privacy be respected as we grieve during this very difficult time.” Jacobs made his fortune buying and liquidating failing companies at a profit and, until 1991, part-owned the Vikings.
