Jerry Springer is swapping out flying chairs for a seat on the bench, NBC Universal Television Distribution announced Monday. The longtime talk-show host is getting a new gig as a judge on his own court show: Judge Jerry. Like other shows in the popular daytime genre, Judge Jerry will hear testimony and bring verdicts before a studio audience. Springer’s previous show, The Jerry Springer Show, ran for 27 raucous seasons before ending its run in July. Judge Jerry will be taped in Connecticut and premiere in the fall of 2019, according to NBC. The 74-year-old host began his unique legal career as a lawyer in Cincinnati. In a statement, Springer said he’ll be called “honorable” for this first time in his life.
