Karl Lagerfeld, a fashion innovator and icon in his own right, died at the age of 85 today. His legacy spans decades of influence from his days at Chanel and Fendi to his own enigmatic existence as a sartorial statement (the hair, the gloves, the sunglasses). While Lagerfeld himself was a man of few words in the public sphere, there have been many books that feature his influential career and the rewards the fashion houses reaped from his employment.
While Lagerfeld is most widely known in the fashion world for looking at the world through pursed lips and black shades, he was also a prolific photographer. There are a handful of beautiful books that feature musings by him, as well as his own photography and campaigns from his time at Chanel.
