Kellyanne Conway, counselor to President Trump, called CNN's Jim Acosta a “smart ass” on Tuesday afternoon after he asked a question about Trump's upcoming primetime Oval Office address. “Kellyanne, can you promise the president will tell the truth tonight?” Acosta asked Conway, according to video of the heated exchange. “Yes Jim, and can you promise that you will? The whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help you God? Am I allowed to mention God to you?” Conway countered. When Acosta claimed that Conway was the one with an “alternative facts problem,” Conway snapped. “Let me get back in your face cause you’re such a smart ass most of the time, and I know you want this to go viral—a lot of these people don’t like you,” she said, apparently referring to Acosta's fellow White House press colleagues. “I’m one of the last people here who even bothered to go on [CNN], and the disrespect that you showed to me personally, I’ll just look past,” she said.
