Kenyan security forces have killed the five terrorists who stormed a hotel compound Tuesday in an attack that left at least 21 people dead. The attack was claimed by Somali Islamist group al Shabaab. The death toll rose Wednesday after six additional bodies were found at the scene and a wounded police officer passed away, inspector-general of Kenyan police Joseph Boinnet told the Associated Press. Twenty-eight people were also hurt in the attack. Earlier Wednesday President Uhuru Kenyatta confirmed the “security operation” at the DusitD2 complex was over after the militants were killed. The attack on the hotel began shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday with an explosion in the parking lot and then a suicide bomb blast in the foyer, police said. The siege lasted for 20 hours.
