Not one of nearly 200 viewers reported the video of the New Zealand mosque attack while it was happening live, Facebook has said. No Facebook users reported the original video until 29 minutes after the video started streaming and 12 minutes after the live broadcast ended, according to a statement issued by Facebook late Monday. The company also revealed the video was uploaded to 8chan before anyone reported it. By the time Facebook removed the original 17-minute video, it had been viewed roughly 4,000 times. Meanwhile, in New Zealand, it is now illegal for anyone to view, possess, or distribute the video of the Christchurch attacks in any form. The country’s chief censor David Shanks said: “We’re aware that for a time after the attacks, this video was widely available on social media and many New Zealanders saw it, sometimes without meaning to... It’s important people are now clear they should not view, download, or share the video.”
