Pete Buttigieg’s campaign announced Monday it’s raised more than $7 million since launching an exploratory committee in January. The little-known mayor from South Bend, Indiana, has been raising his profile with a number of well-received media appearances in recent weeks, including a CNN town-hall event and a segment on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. He’s already made history as the first gay candidate to qualify for a major-party primary debate. In an email to supporters, the campaign said: “This is just a preliminary analysis, but our team’s initial report shows we raised over $7 million in Q1 of this year. We (you) are out-performing expectations at every turn. I’ll have a more complete analysis later, but until then: a big thank you to all our supporters.”
