Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), a conservative member of the Democratic Party, announced his support on Monday for the Keep Families Together Act, making him the final Democratic member (plus independents Angus King and Bernie Sanders) of the Senate to support the legislation. “I’m wholeheartedly opposed to any policy that allows innocent children to be separated from their parents,” the senator said in a statement. “I’m signing onto the Keep Families Together Act but I’m actively working with my Republican colleagues to find solutions to the issues that aren’t addressed in the bill.” The legislation, introduced by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), is intended to combat the administration’s policy of separating children from their parents at the border. —Gideon Resnick
