“Things are getting awkward for presidential counselor and love child of Punch and Judy, Kellyanne Conway,” Stephen Colbert said during his Late Show monologue Tuesday night.
That’s because Kellyanne Conway’s husband, George Conway, has been progressively stepping up his outspoken criticism of President Trump on Twitter, saying, among other things, that the Trump administration is “like a shitshow in a dumpster fire.”
“Which is awkward,” Colbert added, “because his wife is one of the flaming trash pile’s star turd-jugglers.”

After George Conway questioned Trump’s mental health this past week, Trump finally fired back on Twitter, calling him a “total loser.”
As the president, Colbert said, “Anybody who would marry him would have to be a complete moron. OK, read that back to me, Kellyanne.”
Earlier in the day, in an interview with The Washington Post, George Conway revealed why he spends so much time tweeting against his wife’s boss, explaining, “The mendacity, the incompetence, it’s just maddening to watch. The tweeting is just the way to get it out of the way, so I can get it off my chest and move on with my life that day. That’s basically it. Frankly, it’s so I don’t end up screaming at her about it.”
