Remember when Donald Trump very clearly, in front of several cameras, called Tim Cook—the CEO of Apple—Tim Apple? Well, since then, he’s boldly claimed that he just said “Cook” very quietly—so quietly, in fact, that none of the people of microphones around him picked it up. And now he’s come up with another explanation—that he said “Tim/Apple” because he’s a very busy man and needed to save the second and a half it would have taken to refer to him properly. Tweeting Monday morning, Trump said: “At a recent round table meeting of business executives, & long after formally introducing Tim Cook of Apple, I quickly referred to Tim + Apple as Tim/Apple as an easy way to save time & words. The Fake News was disparagingly all over this, & it became yet another bad Trump story!”
