Donald Trump has dared Howard Schultz to challenge him in the 2020 election after the former Starbucks CEO said he’s “seriously considering” running as an independent candidate. The billionaire’s Sunday announcement was brutally ridiculed on Twitter by people who told him there were thousands of better ways for him the help the country. In his Monday morning tweet-along with Fox & Friends, Trump wrote: “Howard Schultz doesn’t have the ‘guts’ to run for President! Watched him on @60Minutes last night and I agree with him that he is not the ‘smartest person.’ Besides, America already has that! I only hope that Starbucks is still paying me their rent in Trump Tower!” Trump may have an ulterior motive in daring Schultz to run. Responding to the Schultz announcement, historian Kevin Kruse wrote: “I’m an American political historian and I can assure you that the only thing you’ll accomplish by running for president as a centrist independent is helping re-elect Donald Trump.”
