Prince Harry’s transformation to California native appears to be complete. In a new video posted to Instagram by professional surfer Raimana Van Bastolaer, Harry is seen surfing—with languid ease—at Kelly Slater’s Surf Ranch, a man-made wave facility in Lemoore, Ca, with Van Bastolaer shouting enthusiastic encouragement to the prince.

The Daily Mail reported that Harry had been gifted surf lessons by his wife Meghan Markle four years ago for his 36th birthday.

“Get up, move up,” Van Bastolaer called out to Harry as the prince, wearing a dark top and shorts, first found his footing and balance. At other moments, the surf pro called out, “Love you brother,” “Move your shoulder,” “Yeahhh, nice!,” “Yeah, my brother!,” and “Keep going.”

Slater’s facility is in central California, over 100 miles from the ocean.

Van Bastolaer captioned the video: “In Tahiti, we still call you Prince Harry. But at Surf Ranch, it’s my brother. It was an honor to have you surf with me and Kelly Slater.”

Harry rode the wave for around a minute. The Mail reported that the wave is “a man-made, first of its kind, 6-ft barreling wave that lasts for up to 2300 feet. Dubbed the best artificial wave in the world, it is still the only one to receive World Surf League accreditation, meaning it is fit to stage elite level competitions.”

The video emerged the day after it was revealed Harry and Meghan had purchased a property in Portugal. While not much is known about the property itself, the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden said the two are likely familiar with the country as they have spent time there with Princess Eugenie, Harry’s cousin, and her husband Jack Brooksbank at their second home in the exclusive CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club.
