President Donald Trump says he’s hit the brakes on a controversial plan to roll out the COVID-19 vaccine to his inner circle before long-term-care home residents and non-health-care essential workers. TheNew York Times reported on Sunday that the shots would be rapidly distributed to White House staff even before they reached the most vulnerable people in the country. However, Trump reversed course late Sunday, saying in a Twitter post that the rollout had been delayed. He wrote: “People working in the White House should receive the vaccine somewhat later in the program, unless specifically necessary. I have asked that this adjustment be made. I am not scheduled to take the vaccine, but look forward to doing so at the appropriate time.” It’s not clear why Trump decided to change the plan.
