It won’t shock anyone to learn Donald Trump spent his morning tweeting along with Fox & Friends. He showed particular interest in a segment featuring a group called Jexodus, which is encouraging Jewish people to leave the Democratic Party because of accusations of anti-Semitism by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN). The group—fronted, interestingly, by former Trump campaign staffer Elizabeth Pipko—accuses the Democrats of “hypocrisy, anti-Americanism, and anti-Semitism.” On Twitter, Trump quoted Pipko saying: “Jewish people are leaving the Democratic Party. We saw a lot of anti Israel policies start under the Obama Administration, and it got worsts [sic] & worse. There is anti-Semitism in the Democratic Party. They don’t care about Israel or the Jewish people.” It’s not clear where Pipko or Trump were getting their figures. Analysis from the Pew Research Center showed that roughly eight-in-10 Jewish voters (79 percent) voted for the Democrats in the 2018 midterm elections, higher than the share who did so in 2014.
